Tight in the lead
The former Femundløpet, Finnmarksløpet and Iditarod champion, Thomas Wærner, kept the lead from the forth checkpoint, Søvollen, all the way to Røros. The famous "King", 13-time Femundløpet champion, Robert Sørlie, was not far behind. However, Thomas managed to keep him at an arm's length and managed to get a 1 hour and 15 minute lead from the last checkpoint.
Thomas Wærner on his way to victory:
Not his first rode
This was not the firs time Thomas had success in Femund. He also won the race in 2019. Same year he also won Finnmarksløpet. In addition, he managed to get the title at the worlds longes race, Iditarod (Alaska), the following year.
Femundløpet is Thomas first long distance race this season, as you will also find him at the start of Finnmarksløpet, March 11th, (Alta). Let's see if he can manage to repeat his 2019 double victory!
